Mumbai: Nooriya Haveliwala, the 27-year-old woman involved in a drunken driving accident in Mumbai that killed two people, has tested positive for cannabis and morphine.
The drugs were found in Nooriya's blood and urine samples, Mumbai Police confirmed on Wednesday.
"Medical reports of Nooriya Haveliwala have tested positive for intake of morphine and cannabis," said Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner Himanshu Roy.
Police also say Nooriya had not told them that she had consumed drugs.
She is likely going to be booked under the NDPS Act. Police will seek custody when her bail application is heard on February 16.
Her initial medical tests revealed high intake of alcohol.
The 27-year-old beautician on January 30 was driving towards her home at Colaba in south Mumbai when she lost control over her Honda CRV vehicle and hit a bike and a police jeep.
A traffic police sub-inspector Dina Nath Shinde and one more person Afzal Shaikh were killed in the accident while four traffic police constables sustained serious injuries.
