Mumbai: The Jewish festival of lights Hannukah saw the community came together to remember and mourn the Rabbi couple killed in the Mumbai siege.
Special prayers were held in Mumbai in memory of Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivkah and dozens of jews from the Chabad-Lubavitch movement lit up over 10 feet high menorahs.
The couple who ran the Nariman House Chabad were killed in the 26/11 terror attacks.
''We want to spread light in the darkness and believe that Chabad house has to once again continue good work,” said Gavriel’s father, Rabbi Holtzberg.
It was an emotional moment them as they revisited the badly damaged Nariman house. The followers of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement held hands and danced for peace in remembrance.
''We hope someday baby Moshe (the slain rabbi’s son) will carry on his father's work and come to India too,” said Rabbi Korlotsky.
Efforts are on to assess the extent of damage and restore the Nariman House since it stood witness to the 60-hour siege and has a sentimental value for the Jewish community.
