Mumbai: Man who lost braveheart son stands unmoved

Mumai: Father of Keenan Santos, who died after stabbed for taking on some people who misbehaved with their friends in Mumbai, on Thursday praised his son's bravado, saying he wants his other sons to also fight crime against women.

"I lost my son and I wish, I say, I have another two sons and I wish them also to be brave and to never bow down in front of this," Keenan's father Valerian Santos said.

Mumbai is mourning the death of two young bravehearts, Keenan Santos and Ruben Fernandes, who were both stabbed for taking on eve teasers.

The incident had occured on the October 20. While 24-year-old Keenan died the same day in hospital, 28-yr-old Ruben died on Monday. But the grief of their families and friends is mixed with outrage. Keenan's girlfriend who witnessed the incident claims that no one came forward came forward to help the two men.

"People stood there watching...did nothing," said Priyanka Fernandes, Keenan Santos' girlfriend.

At 11 pm on the night of October 20, Keenan Santos, Reuben Fernandes and five of their friends came out for a paan after having dinner in Amboli Restaraunt in suburban Andheri.

They got into a argument with main accused Jeetendra Rana after he allegedly started harassing Kenan's girlfriend.

Rana retreated only to return with 20 friends and stabbed Keenan and Reuben.

"Why are we allowing all these criminals to roam freely? Why are we not doing anything about it?" asked Keenan's father Valerian Santos.

There is an outpouring of grief and anger on social networking sites. A Facebook page with 20000 fans is trying to build a pressure on the authorities.
