Mumbai: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Shivaji Nagar area in the eastern part of the city, police said on Saturday. The accused, identified as Imran Shamim Khan (21), was on Saturday arrested by the police in the rape case that took place a week ago.
According to police, the parents of the girl came to know about it on Friday, following which they lodged a complaint and Khan was arrested from his residence. Police said that Khan was living alone and had got acquainted with the victim and her parents as they lived next to each other.
On the day of the incident, after finding the girl alone at home, Khan sexually assaulted her. He has been booked for rape, criminal intimidation and under sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
