Mumbai: A 40-year-old constable committed suicide in the Juhu area of Mumbai on Tuesday evening.
The constable Mohan Deshmukh shot himself with his rifle around 2030 hrs IST on Tuesday evening outside the premises of the Dena Bank branch that he had been guarding.
He was rushed to the Cooper Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
He had been in service in the Local Arms Department of the Mumbai Police for the last 20 years.
The police did not give any reasons for him committing suicide, but there are unconfirmed reports that he was suffering from depression and undergoing treatment for the same.
His family is in a state of shock. They were also interrogated by the police for further clarity on the possible reasons of his suicide.
