Mumbai set for Ganpati visarjan, 90,000 idols to be immersed

Mumbai: It is the last day of Ganesh Utsav on Saturday and people across India, especially Mumbai, are all set for the immersion of Ganesh idols. Several street processions will be taken out in Mumbai on Saturday, with the police saying that over 90,000 idols will be immersed at 84 different spots.

Security has been tightened and 25,000 policemen have been deployed across Mumbai. The BSF and SRPF have also stepped in.

Over 350 lifeguards have been stationed at major immersion spots and 37 watch towers have been erected to monitor the immersion.

The traffic police will divert traffic from major roads and 37 roads in Mumbai will remain closed from 12 noon on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday.
