Mumbai: In a horrific incident in Mumbai, three 6-year-old students were chained and paraded around school as punishment for creating ruckus in class. They were also made to clean toilets. The police have now registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act.
A 6-year-old is now scared and scarred by the name of school. A student of Antonio DeSilva school in Dadar, he is among the three who were chained, paraded through the school and even made to clean school toilets as punishment for mischief.
"He was very scared when he came home, wouldn't tell us what happened. Finally when he told us, we approached the school authorities but when they did not reply satisfactorily, we registered a police complaint," his parents said.
The parents alleged that the principal sided with the teacher even though the teacher had taken this step on her own. The police are expected to question the school authorities and the teacher soon.
"We have received a complaint of extreme humiliation and have registered a complaint under Juvenile Justice Act," DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni said.
While an investigation may lead to the punishment of the guilty school teacher, the memories of this incident will be a lifelong punishment for the students and their parents.
