Mumbai: A taxi ride in Mumbai is a tiring experience because of the heat and traffic but things might get better with an interesting companion. The black and yellow taxis are all set to get their own magazine which promises to be a welcome diversion for traffic weary commuters.
Mum-Bai is what the magazine has been named as. It is the first ever taxi tabloid to be launched in the country. The idea behind it is to spice up the Mumbaikars’ monotonous commute.
“Mum-Bai is a lady. The concept is of Mumbai interacting with the Mumbaikars. I am sure people will like it,” says magazine’s Editor.
Vishnu Kadam came up with the idea a couple of years ago and has finally managed to get the sponsors for a slick looking product.
From heritage and cuisine to theatre listings, the fortnightly magazine seeks to be a one-stop shop for all that is happening in Mumbai. And Mumbaikars are also giving it a thumbs up.
“It is always a better option to have something in hand to read while you are waiting to reach your destination,” says one of the commuter.
“I think it is going to act as a great stress buster, just to know what is happening in your city,” adds another commuter.
The taxi owners on the other hand are hoping that the tabloid will bring them more business.
So this July when taxi owners will start getting their free copies of the magazine, Mumbaikars might not mind being stuck in traffic so much.
