Mumbai: A Mumbai court will on Tuesday hear a plea to extend the police custody of 24 people who were arrested in connection with the Azad Maidan violence case.
A total of 43 people have been arrested on charges of murder and rioting during the violence that broke out.
The protests had been called in to demonstrate against the Assam violence. However, within no time, the march turned violent as the protesters torched vehicles, damaged media vans and pelted stones at the police.
