Mumbai: In the run up to Independence Day, major cities across the country have heightened security.
And not just Delhi, in the list of cities facing the threat of a terror attack, Mumbai is pretty much at the top.
Just a month ago, Mumbaikars were lifting dead bodies from rail tracks, and on Monday, just a day before Independence Day, the city is under the grip of terror once again.
An early US embassy advisory email warning about a terrorist strike has put the state on high alert.
And even as the ATS is floundering on clues to track the culprits of 7/11 blasts, the city police chief assures that its force is ready to deal with any crisis.
"We are constantly trying to tighten security in shopping malls & multiplexes. We have been meeting and informing the owners about the need to stay alert," said Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy.
Roy has also called for an awareness conference with mall owners and other public convenience workers to set things in motion.
With a history of serial blasts, the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the police force in Muumbai are leaving no stones unturned.
Security at airports has been tightened and checks have been regularised.
But hoax calls, which filter through, have paralysed the regular commuter.
As a force of 40,000 policemen face the challenge of protecting a 15 million-strong population, the task is never easy.
Moreover, with the force largely clueless about the masterminds behind 7/11 blasts, India's financial and film capital still remains a soft terror target.
