Mumbai: Yael Crishna is your typical film buff. Back from a hard day's work, nothing is as welcome as a good movie.
But now, with a blank screen where her movie channel should be, she's not happy.
"The fact that I have to shell out more money to rent a movie just because some parent is concerned that her children should not watch television and therefore, the rest of the city should not watch television, is not happening," she says.
"It’s my responsibility to see what my child watches. Don't come to my house and tell me what my children should watch," says Yael's father, Vikram Crishna.
Over the last couple of days, families like the Crishnas are upset that they're having to depend on DVDs to get their movie fix.
But here is another case where there are no complaints.
Homemaker Meeta Rupani is concerned at the effect adult movies have on her children and 'no signal' means healthier viewing for impressionable minds.
"As a mother, I don't think the movie channels should be banned completely, but they should stop showing adult content. Young children should be protected and this is a good way of doing it," she says.
But the real responsibility for young minds, according to those like Yael, lies somwhere else.
"Let the parents learn how to take care of their kids. Don't blame everyone else because your kids are watching television," says Yael.
