New Delhi: A 26-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her mother to death aided by her boyfriend. The case joins the list of crimes when family and friends break the crucial and seemingly unbreakable circle of trust.
According to the police 26-year-old Sakshi Kapoor is a murderer as she stabbed her mother to death with the help of her 20-year-old boyfriend Sunny.
Delhi Police on May 28 found the flat ransacked and 55-year-old Kiran Kapoor dead after being stabbed more than a dozen times with a kitchen knife, beer bottles and a screw driver.
Sakshi, claiming to be the only witness, had blamed the killing on robbers.
But police investigations nailed her lie.
When she confessed, Sakshi simply said she was fed up with her mother's nagging.
"They though that it would not be wise to leave her injured so they killed her," claimed Delhi Police Joint Commissioner (Southern Range) Ajay Kashyap.
Earlier, in March two sisters in Mumbai's Mira Road came out in the open blaming a tantrik and their own father of raping them over a period of nine years.
"I hope my father and the tantrik both get hanged for what they have done or be sentenced to life imprisonment at least. There can be no other punishment for what they have done," said the rape victim.
Two years ago 16-year-old Adnan Patrawala thought he was going out to play pool with friends he met on a social networking site.
But he didn't return home. The next day his father got a call asking for Rs 2 crore as ransom in return for Adnan.
As his story hit newspapers and TV screens Adnan's teenaged abductors panicked and killed him.
Murders within the family are often high profile. In April 2006 Pravin, the quiet and rarely seen brother of high-flying Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, allegedly walked into Pramod's house early in the morning and pumped bullets into him.
The reasons for the murder remain unclear.
But what is terrifying about these crimes is how the circle of trust within a family or among friends was broken again and again with tragic results.
