Click to play videoGurgaon: The Guragon police are investigating a case of death of a 25-year-old housewife who they believed committed suicide till her four-year-old son said his father killed her.
Tapasya Choudhary allegedly had an argument with her husband - a project manager with a Telecom firm - on Sunday evening - and then purportedly hanged herself.
Then a startling revelation from the couple's four-year-old son changed the course of the case
“Mummy ko mar kar faansi pein chadha diya (Mother was killed and then hanged)”, he said. Upon being asked who did this, the child replied, “Papa”.
Family members are also crying murder.
“I was first told it was a suicide, but later when I reached, I got to know from the kid and other people that she had been murdered,” says Tapasya’s borther Lalit.
Tapasya's brother says her in-laws had started harassing her with dowry demands soon after the wedding.
“We gave almost Rs 12 lakh as dowry at the time of the wedding in 2004. But they kept demanding more and more. Recently they had started demanding a car,” he says.
The Gurgaon police have now registered a case of dowry but no arrests have been made so far.
While Tapasya's family members are quite sure that it was her husband who murdered her, police officials are tightlipped.
They say that any opinion on the cause of her death can be given only after her post mortem is conducted. Till then whatever happened remains a mystery.
