New Delhi: Pakistan Prsident Parvez Musharraf has asked former PM Benazir Bhutto, to delay her return to Pakistan.
In a television interview late on Wednesday night, Musharraf said: "Benazir should not come back to Pakistan on October 18 and she should delay her return till the Supreme Court decision regarding the presidential election."
Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party though has confirmed that she was committed to returning to the country on October 18 and there is no change in her plans.
PPP spokesperson also said Bhutto plans to contest the general elections due in January. The PPP had boycotted Saturday's presidential elections, which Musharraf won by vast majority.
But the military ruler cannot assume office till the Supreme Court decides on petitions filed by his rivals challenging his decision to contest without giving up the post of army chief.
Musharraf, though, has promised that he would doff his uniform by November 15.
