New Delhi: Pakistan's 61st Independence Day celebrations could be coloured by the prospect of impeaching a sitting President, a first in its tumultuous history.

Where, President Pervez Musharraf is losing time and options, the charge-sheet against him is ready.

Musharraf is going to address the nation on its independence eve and is expected to give some hints about his next move.

Though, his own partymen have asked him to quit gracefully, the commando turned President Pervez Musharraf has given every indication that he will fight back.

Musharraf’s advisor S M Zafar was quoted as saying that his departure before the impeachment gets underway was a good option.

Another party leader hinted that he could quit or even take the extreme option of dissolving the National Assembly. But that would require the assent of the US and the army, both of which appear to have distanced themselves from the President.

The Sindh Assembly became the 3rd provincial assembly to pass a resolution asking him to seek a trust vote or quit or else face impeachment. Hours later the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) coalition finalised the list of charge against him.

In the meanwhile, there are reports of him approaching Saudi Arabia for help. But, there are possibilities that Musharraf ends all these speculations by addressing the nation on the eve of its independence.
