Click to play videoNew Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) will issue a show-cause notice to Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid for election code violation on Wednesday.
Khurshid on Monday had said that the government will increase quota for minorities from 4.5 per cent to 9 per cent if the Congress is voted to power.
The EC has taken cognizance of the BJP's complaint against Khurshid's statement which the BJP has termed as unconstitutional.
Talking about the issue earlier in the day, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "BJP leaders met EC today. We have raised the issue about the way the Congress is trying to divide UP on the base of religion and caste to hide corruption. Whatever Salman Khurshid has said on 9 per cent Muslim sub quota is unconstitutional. This is a violation of moral code of conduct."
