Mumbai: Muslims across the country will be celebrating Bakri Eid on Tuesday but the festival will be more low profile than usual. Many Muslim organisations have called for simple celebration following the recent Mumbai terror attacks.

Maharashtra United Nations Association has asked Muslims to celebrate Eid in a "low profile" manner due to the recent Mumbai terror attacks.

"We request Muslims to put a black band on the arm while going for Eid prayers and pray for peace and harmony in the country," says General Secretary of the Association KAA Syed.

The Coordination Committee of Indian Muslims has appealed to the community to celebrate Eid with simplicity and wear black armbands as a mark of solidarity with the victims.

The Deoband based Dar-ul-Uloom has asked Muslims to pray for those who lost their lives or loved ones and express solidarity with Mumbaikars on the occasion.

Eid-ul-Azha or Bakri Eid traditionally signifies the feast of sacrifice and marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca. Kerala, Karnataka and some other parts of the country observed Eid on Monday.
