Muzaffarnagar riots: SP, BJP MLAs fight in UP Assembly

Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs fought in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Friday over Muzaffarnagar riots.

The scuffle broke out when UP Minister Pawan Pande was making a statement on the riots. BJP MLA Upendra Tewari fought with him in the Assembly.

The Assembly was adjourned soon after fighting began in the Assembly.

Congress leader Pramod tewari condemned the incident saying, "Whatever happened in the Assembly today was very sad and unfortunate."

There has been a words continuing between the two parties as both of them were blaming each other for the riots. BJP MLAs were also seen protesting outside the state Assembly against the arrest warrant issued to their MLAs for making hate speech and inciting communal violence.

BJP leader Uma Bharti had even dared the SP government to arrest their leaders and said, "The SP government should be ready to face the consequences if any MLA is arrested."

The Akhilesh government also came under attack from the opposition parties for trying to protect its MLAs from the arrest.

Over 40 people died and thousands have been displaced in the riots.
