Speaking to CNN-IBN they expressed their happiness and claimed that Sen was a Gandhian and never believed in violence.
Illina said, "It is only the support of civil society that I had been able to come so far. We have only worked for the people of Chattisgarh. Its a very emotional moment. I am only beginning to realise that freedom at hand."
Illina also said that there are certain conditions that have been set for the bail such as Binayak Sen is not allowed to enter Chattisgarh.
Binayak's brother Dipankar Sen said everyone had written off but they were hopeful at the Supreme Court.
He also added, "It is a victory of media, more than anybody else.
Binayak's mother Anusuya broke down in the court and said, "I am very much relieved, very much happy, my son has gone through much. Mother always feel happy when children are around. This is a good new year gift. I am happy with this verdict, I don't have to write to him anymore, he will now call me."
