Mumbai: A gruesome discovery on a Mumbai suburban railway line has deepened the mystery over a possible plot to kill Anil Ambani.

Just five days after stones were found in Ambani's helicopter, Bharat Borge who detected the alleged sabotage in the private helicopter of India's second richest businessman has been found dead.

The 45-year old was found dead with severe head injuries, on the suburban railway tracks in Mumbai's Vile Parle area on Tuesday morning.

"He was probably trying to go towards the west from Vile Parle. He died while crossing the railway tracks," claimed GRP Andheri’s Senior Police Inspector NA Shaikh.

Eyewitnesses say he was hit by a train and dragged for 100 metres. Moreover, in a sudden twist, the railway police recovered a note from the body. It was written in Marathi, signed by Borge and addressed to an investigating officer of the Mumbai crime branch.

The letter read: "Yesterday after you left, some Reliance people came to my house. One of them took my number and said that he will talk to me later and left. I feel I have been used. I want to tell you that your investigation is going in the right direction. So, continue to investigate on the same lines."

Borge was one of four employees, with Airworks Private Limited, the maintenance firm to have direct access to Ambani's Bell 412 helicopter. His testimony played a key role in getting a sabotage case registered.

He was last questioned on Monday, just a day before his death.

It appears that Borge may have had information about who was responsible for the sabotage and the Crime branch was close to nabbing the culprit.

Meanwhile, Borge's body has been handed over to his family in Satara, who are demanding a detailed enquiry

"We cannot say why he died. But we will demand an enquiry as to why he wrote the letter," said Borge's relative Sanjay More.

But despite the handwritten note, police are not ruling out foul play.

The Crime Branch is now plan to bring in handwriting experts to authenticate the letter. The death of the key witness has added an abetment to suicide and cover up angle to what was perhaps just a high profile case of corporate rivalry.
