Mumbai:In a big twist in the death of Goan girl Nadia Torrado, police sources claim that former tourism minister Mickey Pacheco, along with Nadia's family destroyed crucial evidence.

The mystery over Nadia's death continues with Pacheco is still absconding. With fresh evidence of foul play, Pacheco is becoming a prime suspect in the case. Order on Pacheco's anticipatory bail plea is expected on Thursday while that of his associate Lyndon Monterio has already been rejected.

Nadia's incriminating second postmortem report states that there were as many as 11 injures on her body. Two of the injuries were due to hard and blunt objects.

The second postmortem report of Nadia has in a sense raised more questions on the circumstances under which she died. Why did Pacheco act against medical advice and shift Nadia from one hospital to another?

The Nadia case's unanswered questions:

Why did Mickey Pacheco spend close to Rs 40 lakh for Nadia's treatment in Mumbai and Chennai? What was Mickey Pacheco's role in destruction of crucial evidence like Nadia's phone, laptop etc.? Why did he disappear after one day questioning by Goa Police Crime Branch?

In a reply filed before the court Goa Police states: "There has been systematic and sustained destruction of evidence and it appears that Mickey Pacheco and Lyndon Monteiro may have played a very important role in the destruction of evidence. The evidence in the house and the room of the deceased has been cleaned up."

Now Nadia's family is alleging that police are pressurising them to make statements against Pacheco.

Rights activists Auda Veigas who first took up the case alleging death threats is giving another twist to the tale.
