Mumbai: Ever imagined policemen having anything in common with airline cabin crew?

Now, Nagpur police think they can learn a lot from airline crew, especially when it comes to staying calm under pressure.

The officers are now being trained in inter-personal and communication skills by experts who train airline cabin crew.

“Police officers should be effective managers and effective leaders. We get excellent inputs for this. We think these qualities will be assimilated by our 'cutting-edge’-level officers and they would be able to render better and more effective service in the future,” said Superintendent of Police (Nagpur), Yashaswi Yadav.

The working conditions of policemen put them under a lot of stress and they feel this kind of training can help them stay calm and smile even under those conditions.

“We train them in emotional management and controlling stress,” explained Avalon Aviation Academy trainer, Aditi Chaterjee

Training in communication skills surely is helping the policemen. Many of them have never had any exposure to this before.

But will we really see as many smiling faces at police stations in Nagpur city as we see when we enter an aircraft? That only time can tell.
