Press Trust of India

Salem, Tamil Nadu: Shows of the latest Vijay-starrer 'Nanban', a remake of Bollywood blockbuster '3 idiots', at a multiplex here have been cancelled after suspected activists of a Tamil outfit broke glass panes of the complex and burnt posters of the movie.

Cut-outs of the film's director Shankar were also burnt last night after activists, belonging to Indian Jananayaga Katchi, protested against "objectionable dialogue" in the movie denigrating the outfit's founder Chellamuthu, police said today.

All the night shows were cancelled, police said, adding, 33 persons belonging to the outfit were arrested.
