Mumbai: A Congress office-bearer has been arrested in Maharashtra's Nanded district for allegedly killing a woman. Local Congress leader Abdul Wahid ran a woman over with a tractor and killed her after she refused to hand over her ration shop to him.
The woman, Nirmala, had a ration shop. The Congressman was pressuring her to hand over ownership of the ration shop. When she refused to do so, and approached the police for help, Wahid allegedly killed her.
The Congress leader has been arrested and a case of murder has been registered against him. The police have also registering a case of atrocities against the Scheduled Caste as Nirmala was a Dalit woman.
