Mumbai: Nariman House, which was one of the main targets of the 26/11 attack, is finally being restored and renovated. It will be reopened on November 26 this year, exactly two years after the carnage.

The Jewish Chabad movement promises a "bigger and better" structure.

It's been more than one and a half years since the 26/11 attack ravaged many locations in south Mumbai. One of them, the Jewish Chabad House or Nariman House, was left in shambles.

At last, it is under construction to be restored again. Six Jewish foreign nationals lost their lives here, including Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivkah, who ran this building as a Jewish guesthouse and prayer house.

Chabad Movement members told CNN-IBN that they aim to make the new Nariman House bigger and better than ever before.

It will serve partly as a memorial to those who lost their lives here and primarily as an educational centre.

The building will also, as before, serve as a synagogue and a soup kitchen, serving kosher food for visiting Jews.

The movement members said they hoped the rabbi's son, baby Moshe who survived the attack, would come here to remember his parents. And possibly, one day, even carry on their work.

Locals have supported the renovation, saying the rebuilding effort outweighs security concerns in the area. "We are happy they are rebuilding it. It sends a message that you can attack, but you can't break us," said a resident.

"This is a kind of revenge for us," said another local.
