New Delhi: The Supreme Court protected political scientist Ashish Nandy from being arrested by the Gujarat police. Nandy has been charged with sedition following his analytical article on the 2007 Gujarat poll outcome.

He had moved the SC apprehending arrest. Reprimanding the Gujarat government, the supreme court expressed surprise at the Narendra Modi government's inability to take criticism.

The Liberhan Commission, set up to inquire into the circumstances leading to the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya, got its 46th extension.

The term of the commission has been extended by three months. The panel was appointed within a fortnight of the demolition of the structure at the disputed site on December 6, 1992.

Two bodies of the 34 missing Greyhounds personnel from Andhra Pradesh have been fished out from the Balimela reservoir in Orissa.

There is no news on the remaining 32 men. The police fear that the missing men could have been captured by the Naxals. Naxals had attacked the Andhra anti-naxal squad on June 29 in which one member was killed in the Malkangiri district of Orissa.
