National Voters day: Helping first time voters through 'Register to Vote'

New Delhi: Last year on Independence Day, Network 18 launched the Register to Vote campaign to help 12 million first time voters get a voter ID card. On National Voters' Day on Saturday, the Register to Vote campaign has started it's on ground activity to help college students get enrolled in the voters list.

Network 18 and Volunteer for a better India's Register to Vote Campaign has gathered momentum over the past 6 months, registering over 70,000 new voters. The campaign has organized the 'voteathon' - an inter college competition to register students at their colleges and make them aware of the importance of voting.

The 'voteathon' has been rolled out in 350 colleges spread across 15 states. This is just one of the initiatives from Network 18 and Volunteer for a Better India to increase voter registration and voter awareness. Other initiatives include voter registration drives in neighborhoods and corporate offices.
