Shahabuddin found guilty

RJD MP from Siwan, Mohammad Shahabuddin has been found guilty of murder and kidnapping. Shahabuddin was accused of abducting and killing CPI(ML) party worker Chote Lal Gupta in 1999. The quantum of punishment is expected to be announced on May 8.

Boiler blast at Gokak

Two persons were confirmed dead and more than 41 injured, after a boiler burst in a starch manufacturing unit at Gokak – 50 km away from Belgaum district in Karnataka. The blast took place at about 2230 hrs Friday night.

Commuters went berserk at Sealdah station

Angry commuters at Sealdah station went berserk on Saturday afternoon leading to police lathicharge, after train services came to a halt for over five hours. Trains did not move because railway guards and motormen stopped work, after a judicial magistrate of the railway court ordered a motorman's arrest.
