National wipes: News on Saturday

Ranchi vendors attack Reliance Fresh outlet; Amar Singh resigned as the Chairman of UP Development Council and Delhi crime branch served notices in the Babubhai Katara fake passport racket.

Reliance Fresh attacked
The new Reliance Fresh outlet at Ranchi was attacked by local fruit and vegetable vendors.

Protestors say their business is taking a beating as Reliance is selling their products at a much cheaper rate, and pushing them out of the market.

People have been queuing up to buy vegetables from the three Reliance shops set up in Ranchi the last three months.

Thousands of vegetable sellers, mostly women, are demanding that the Mukesh Ambani-controlled Reliance Retail stores be closed.

Amar Singh resigns
A day after the Samajwadi Party's defeat in the UP elections, the party General Secretary Amar Singh and four other heads of government undertakings resigned from their respective posts.

Amar Singh resigned as the Chairman of UP Development Council.

The acting Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has accepted the resignation.

Notice on fake passport case
The Delhi crime branch served notices to the four MP's named by an accused in the Babubhai Katara fake passport racket.

The MP's have to appear for questioning before Monday.

The four were served with notices earlier but didn’t appear saying they were preoccupied with campaigning for the UP polls.
