Islamabad: PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has ruled himself out as a candidate for the post of Pakistan's president.
He was responding to speculation that he would replace Musharraf as part of a deal between the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and his party on government formation in the country after the February 18 polls.
Nawaz also reiterated that his party would join the new government only if President Musharraf quits office. However, he added that they had no hesitation in fully backing the new government at the centre.
"We have assured PPP co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari of our full cooperation, whether the PML-N becomes part of the government or not," Nawaz told ARY Oneworld news channel.
"We will only become part of government when Musharraf quits the office of president," he added.
