Click to play videoHyerabad: A Gujarat CID team led by the IPS officer Geetha Johri arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday night to probe the Andhra Pradesh connection in the Gujarat fake encounter case.
The team's arrival comes a day after Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police, M A Basith denied the involvement Andhra Police officials in the case.
Geetha Johri says the team will probe if Hyderabad police officials had helped the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad track Sohrabuddin down.
E Radhakrishnaiah, a Gujarat cadre officer - currently on deputation to the CISF in Andhra Pradesh - may also be questioned. Johri is planning on questioning seven other police officials in connection with the case.
There is speculation that Johri may reconstruct the crime scene in Hyderabad and probe how the Gujarat Police came to know of Sohrabuddin's travel plans.
Sources say that officials had got his travel plans from a Naxalite and then passed it on to the Gujarat Police officials.
Johri, who exposed the 'fake encounter' and the involvement of senior officials, may also visit Tandola, a village in neighbouring Karnataka where the bus - on which Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi were travelling when he was arrested - was stopped by the policemen.
She was also believed to have visited Hyderabad last year to question the driver of the bus, which was intercepted by police.

The Andhra Pradesh government, meanwhile, has denied giving any official support to the Gujarat Police. The state is maintaining that it did not even have any official information on the Sohrabuddin case.
However, government sources say that some AP officials may have supported the Gujarat Police on a personal basis.
