Bhubaneshwar: Naxals on Monday blew up a railway track in Orissa's Sundargarh district disrupting services on the Howrah-Mumbai route. One goods train has been derailed in the accident.

South Eastern Railways CPRO Soumitra Majumdar He said the train services would be back to normal shortly.

"A bomb was triggered below the 19th wagon of a goods train which got derailed. We stopped up and down movement of trains for safety reasons. Bomb squad arrived at 5:30 am (0530 HSR IST). In the up line also, a live bomb was found and defused. We have resumed operations on the up line. Down line will take some time. By 10:30 (1030 hrs IST) we will be able to normalise operations on both lines," said Majumdar.

Over 20 long distance trains have been affected by the disruption.

Naxals have called for a 72-hour bandh starting from Sunday, protesting Operation Green Hunt by the security forces.

They had also blown up railway tracks in Jamui district of Bihar on Sunday disrupting train services on the Delhi-Howrah route.

In Chhattishgarh security forces killed five Naxals in a gunbattle on Sunday.

The gunbattle took place in the forests of Honganar in Narayanpur district of the state, senior police officials said.

According to Inspector General RK Vij security forces received a tip-off about the presence of a group of rebels in Honganar forests.

As the forces tried to enter the forest, they were fired upon by the Naxals. Five Naxals were killed in the exchange of fire that lasted for nearly two hours.

"The actual situation will be clear once investigation is complete. The recovered literature suggests that a deputy commander of the rebel organisation was among the dead. We also recovered a huge cache of arms including a pipe bomb," said Additional Superintendent of Police, Narayanpur, Sujit Kumar.
