Mumbai: Actor Anil Kapoor says that 'Nayak Returns' will have a completely fresh subject and it won't be a sequel.
'Nayak' (2001) was a political action thriller starring Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and Amrish Puri. The film was a remake of S Shankar's successful Tamil film 'Mudhalvan'.
Now 'Nayak 2' is rolling out, though Kapoor says it is not a sequel. "I have just signed 'Nayak 2' and it is my responsibility to put the project together. It is not a sequel to 'Nayak'. The film is completely a fresh subject but it is something similar... The character is same. We will try to do something special," the actor told PTI.
Anil Kapoor is also looking forward to working with Rajkumar Santoshi for a film based on the Partition.
Kapoor will be seen next in 'Sharmaji Ka Atom Bomb', directed by Abhishek Sharma (of 'Tere Bin Laden' fame). A comedy, it is to go on floors by the end of this year.
Reportedly, the film is going to have Tabu as well. Kapoor is also looking forward to working with Rajkumar Santoshi for a film based on the Partition. (They had worked together in Pukar (2000) and Lajja (2001).)
"The film with Rajkumar Santoshi, it is very ambitious film and an excellent role, it is one of the best roles that I have come across," he said.
