In his address, Patil recalled the outstanding contributions made by two stalwarts late Yeshwantrao Chavan and Vasantrao Naik towards the state's development.

"Yeshwantrao Chavan had taken the initiative to decentralise power in the State during his term as Chief Minister. Later, Vasantrao Naik fulfilled the dream of Chavan by establishing ZP, Municipal Councils and Panchayat Samitis in the State," Patil noted.

NCP has dedicated itself to ensure justice to all sections of society. In this pursuit, the party supported 50 per cent reservation for women in local bodies, Patil said. Regional parties are getting more and more public support in states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, he said and appealed to the people strengthen NCP in Maharashtra to bring sustained development.

Patil criticised the Congress, saying it has failed to bringing any meaning development in rural areas despite being in power in Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis for long.

Patil has also reacted sharply to the recent remarks of Congress leader Narayan Rane, saying voters will teach a befitting lesson to people like him.
