Mumbai: The meeting between the top leaders of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress over the power sharing issue in Maharashtra ended in a deadlock on Thursday.
According to the sources, Home, Finance and Energy are the portfolios which both the parties are keen on getting.
Meanwhile, there are reports that NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar has been approached by Shiv Sena-BJP alliance.
“If someone has offered him then I don’t know. It is a political game,” says Sharad Pawar.
It has been a week since the Congress-NCP coalition won the Mahrashtra Assembly elections with a clear majority but the government has still not been formed in the state as the parties are still haggling over portfolios.
“The leaders of the parties will soon come up with a solution,” says Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.
Even as the deadlock over portfolios continues CNN-IBN has learned that both parties have decided to go ahead with swearing in of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and eight other ministers.
