New Delhi: In a huge setback for Congress leader N D Tiwari, the Delhi High Court on Friday opened his DNA test results according to which he is the biological father of Rohit Shekhar, a man who filed a paternity suit four years ago.
Following the development, Rohit said, "I will demand compensation for what he made me go through."
These were ominous words from a man, who has been legally declared as biological son of Narayan Dutt Tiwari, former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and a former governor of Andhra Pradesh.
For Rohit's mother, Ujjawala Sharma, daughter of former MP and MoS Defence Sher Singh, this was a verdict long time coming.
Ujjawala had come in contact with Tiwari as a worker of the Congress Mahila Morcha. For all these years, Tiwari had denied any relationship with her.
She said, "It was long struggle. He exploited all avenues to delay the judgment. Whatever he says is all fraud, he always speaks in two voices."
In his defence, Tiwari issued an appeal through his secretary, requesting for his privacy to be maintained.
His secretary B D Bhatt read out his statement saying, "This is my personal matter and should not be used by anyone."
With this verdict, Tiwari, towards the fag end of his life, confronts the biggest embarrassment he may have ever faced. But this is not the first time that his lifestyle has come to haunt him.
In 2009, he had to resign as the governor of Andhra Pradesh after being caught in a sting operation allegedly caught in compromising positions.
