Bangalore: Even as panic among the Northeast Indians residing in Bangalore largely subsided on Sunday, a delegation from Nagaland led by the state's power minister and the police chief met Karnataka's Home Minister R Ashok. The state government assured them of the safety of Northeast students and professionals.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday said that several of the doctored MMS clips that fanned the Mumbai violence, as well as the threatening SMSes that sparked panic last week in Bangalore, originated in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka police is trying to get to the bottom of the misinformation campaign that led to the exodus of thousands back to the northeast. Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar confirmed some arrests had been made.
