New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi called for a wholesome development of the country with more participation of the citizens along with the government, while speaking at the India Today Conclave 2013.
He said voting has become a contract for citizens under which, if leaders don't perform, they are voted out. While stressing on the need for a "mass movement for development", the Bharatiya Janata Party leader said democracy in India is not just about voting; it is about citizens and the government working together to bring the nation forward.
Noting that India is a better nation than China, Modi said it is unfortunate that the country is making no use of its resources. "We have two things better than China. First, our youth make 65 per cent of our population and second that we are a democracy. But we are using none of it," he said at the India Today Conclave.
