Mumbai: The process of recording the confessional statement of Kannada actor Maria Susayraj, accused in the murder of Mumbai TV producer Neeraj Grover, has begun.
Maria's confession will be used as evidence in the case.
According to the investigating officers, she had expressed her desire to confess on Sunday evening, following which an application was made before the Magistrate.
Crime branch officers have further denied any rumours of Maria turning into an approver.
A part of the statement was recorded on Tuesday and the other half will be recorded on Wednesday. Her statement is being recorded under the provisions of Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code allows the police to use the confession statement as an evidence before the court during trial.
Neeraj Grover the Associate Creative Head with the Synergy Adlabs was allegedly stabbed to death by Maria's fiancé Lt M L Jerome Matthew, inside her apartment in suburban Malad over a suspected "love triangle".
Maria and Mathew allegedly chopped Grover's body to several pieces and then disposed it by burning in neighbouring Thane district.
Both Matthew and Maria will be produced before the Magistrate on May 29.
