Neil croons Burman hit, Bipasa jives in new movie

Mumbai: The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bachna Ae Haseeno had the cool and catchy remix of R D Burman's 1970s' chartbuster Bachna Ae Haseeno which featured Ranbir's dad Rishi Kapoor from Nasir Husain's Hum Kissie Se Kam Nahin. And now, yet another R D Burman-Kishore Kumar chartbuster Aa dekhe zara from another 1970 hit film Rocky resurfaces in a re-mixed avatar in Neil Nitin Mukesh's new film by the same name. Comparisons are but obvious, but Neil does think his song is better.

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh said, “I love bachna's remix version. That's a song that I play in my car all the time and Vishal-Shekhar have done a great job. But if you ask me which one is better, I think I’m a little more sentimental about Aa Dekhe Zara cause I've sung the song, its but obvious that I will be more affectionate by Aa Dekhe Zara. But both of the songs as songs are great songs and both of them you can dance to.”

Bipasha Basu incidentally is another common factor in both remixes. The actress who shook a leg with Ranbir, Deepika and Minisha in the title track also matches Neil's moves in Aa Dekhen Zaraa.

Bipasha Basu said, “I think all this credit goes to the composers and the people who sing it. I think every time we re-create a song, it’s like an ode to the original, it is like an honor. And to be featured in the video makes me very proud because it is a legendary song. So it’s quite funny that both my films back to back have something like that but they are being liked. So I love them,

I love it. the kind of zing that Neil has put in the song while singing it and the kind of passion, he is a very passionate person so its really turned out well. It’s the kind of song you can play in night clubs, or when you go for drives. So its cool. I like the lounge version also.”

But surprisingly music director Pritam preferred not be a part of the remix version - the dance and lounge version of 'Aa Dekhen Zara is credited to Gaurav Dasgupta.

Neil said, “Pritam never said he didn't wanna touch it, actually what happened is that Pritam was a little tied up with prior commitments and work and I was in America when the idea came up and so I was told to co-ordinate over the phone with him. When I came back to Bombay, we met him a couple of times but it’s a creative field. Any aspect of creativity need some space. He needed his space and he wasn't in the creative moment at that time. So that's when Gourav Dasgupta came in and said, common lets give it a shot in re-creating the music.”

This is Neil's second release after Johnny Gaddar - a film which was critically appreciated but ended up being declared a flop at the box office and this time round the actor will be hoping to hear the audience sing Aa Dekhen Zara to his film.
