New Delhi: Nepal's Maoists have threatened an armed agitation if Constituent Assembly elections are not held by April 2008.
Maoist Chief Prachanda said recent developments had paved the way for the elections, in a reference to an agreement with the seven party-alliance that would give the Maoists more seats in the Constituent Assembly and declare Nepal a federal republic.
Maoist combatants in UN monitored camps will also be paid salaries in instalments. The Maoists had derailed Constituent Assembly polls scheduled for November, demanding that the monarchy be abolished.
