Mumbai: If you have always wanted to be a filmmaker but had no clue where to begin or had no Godfather to help you out, there's help at hand.
Filmaka.com, the website for aspiring filmmakers, will be launching its Indian edition soon.
On the lines of the international website, filmaka.in, will also run a monthly contest for short filmmakers and the winner will get to make full length feature films.
The man behind this initiative is Deepak Nayar, who has produced films like Lost Highway and Bend It Like Beckham.
And he's looking for more Indian participation in the online contest.
“India has enormous amount of talent. What we observed is that very few people were submitting entries from India. Even though a lot of people were visiting the website which they are familiar with, not many entries are coming in. We felt that perhaps the barrier might be language,” said Nayar.
And as filmaka.com has roped in many Hollywood biggies on the jury, the Indian edition will also boast of some big names from Bollywood.
“I think it’s only the storytelling. I think technique doesn’t function actually even in highly technical films. What touches you is the sincerity and honesty of storytelling,” said actor Anupam Kher, who is a Filmaka.in jury member.
But till the Indian edition hits the net, try your luck at the international site. Who knows, it may just be your ticket to Hollywood!
