New face of terror: Hyderabad blast suspect Bilal

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad blasts confirm Southern India's place on the terror map and the growing role of Bangladesh based terror group HUJI. The new face of terror - Shahid Bilal.

“If my son is guilty kill him,” says the father of Shahid Bilal, prime suspect in the Hyderabad blasts. But Bilal is out of sight and out of reach - in Karachi.

Bilal's father Abdul Wahed said, “I swear by Allah that we are not in contact with him either telephone or other means. For god's sake why are they harassing me."

Today only the police and media talk to Abdul Wahed. This 70-year-old, retired school teacher is the father of Bilal, now one of the most wanted terrorists in the country. He says Shahed left home about four years ago and has not contacted the family ever since.

"You're talking about pain. When you people come and talk to us, we could not eat for two-three days. Besides, we always cry for our children." Wahed added.

Shahed's younger brother Zahed was falsely implicated in an attempted murder case of a BJP MLA, alleges his father. The incident changed Shahed, pushing him towards terror, leaving his father to face the world.

Wahed said, “Because of these recent incidents, many people have lost their dear ones. Wherever I go, people question me as to how many more people Shahed wants to kill."

But Wahed said that due to Shahed's alleged involvement, other members of the community are facing unfair treatment.

"Please don't think that I'm lying. Because of my son, police is taking other Muslim youth and torturing them. Why are they doing so. They will curse our family."

If Bilal's alleged involvement in various terrorist activities is true, not only has he shattered families of the innocent victims but has also left behind him, his own extremely distressed and distraught family.
