New Maldivian President expands cabinet today

Male: New Maldivian President Mohammed Waheed Hassan expanded his cabinet on Sunday amid the ongoing crisis in the island nation. The expansion includes two key players from former dictator Gayoom's administration.

The new President has inducted seven new ministers in his cabinet but the post of vice president has been kept empty as of now.

The sources say that the key post may be given to Mohammed Nasheed's party, the MDP.

Waheed’s spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) is now the Youth Minister and Waheed’s former attorney general Aishat Azima Shukoor is back in the same post.

New Health Minister is Dr Ahmed Jamsheed and Education Minister is Dr Aasim Ahmed, while Economic Minister’s post is held by Ahmed Mohamed (Andey).

Tourism Minister is now Ahmed Adheeb and Transport Minister is Dr Ahmed Shamheed.
