New Delhi: Robots can walk, imitate human voice and now human emotions too!
Kansei, the newest Japanese humanoid robot frowns at the word 'bomb' and smiles when he hears 'Sushi'.
Created by a Japanese university research team, Kansei can mimic 36 different facial expressions with 19 moveable parts under his silicone mask.
"What we are trying to do here is to create a 'flow of consciousness' in robots so that they can make the relevant facial expressions based on the flow. I believe that's going to be a key to improving communication between humans and robots," said Meiji University Professor Junichi Takeno.
Kansei runs on a word association program with a database of 5,00,000 links to special keywords.
Powered with a voice in a few years, Kansei will be installed in nursing homes, where he will convey his 'feelings' to humans effectively.
