Mumbai: With a voice like his, everyone expected him to be a singer. But Neil Mukesh, grandson of the legendary singer Mukesh and son of the singer Nitin Mukesh, has chosen to show his talent in a different field - acting.

Neil will debut this month in Johnny Gaddar, a sleek whodunit by filmmaker Shriram Raghavan.

The promos are out, and the film has been generating quite a buzz. For Neil, it was more than just a learning experience, thanks to his director Sriram Raghavan

“He (Sriram Raghavan) can mould someone his way to fit into the character as he sees it in the film,” says Neil Mukesh.

His family hobnobs with the Bollywood A-list and Neil himself is buddies with Abhishek bachchan and Hrithik Roshan.

That's how he landed his first role as a four-year old in Yash Chopra's Vijay and then became assistant director for a couple of Yashraj films. Only after that, and an acting class later did he decide to audition as hero.

While Neil admits that giving the first shot with veteran actor Dharmendra made him shiver with fear, expectations ride high on his shoulders.
