    New Delhi: Police unearthed a major scam involving black marketing of rice meant for mid-day meal scheme by NGOs with the arrest of two persons in New Delhi.

    The Crime Branch unearthed the racket after it received information about some NGOs selling the rice meant for the scheme in the open market, they said.

    The arrested have been identified as Naveen Kumar and Raj Kumar, who had purchased the rice from the NGOs.

    Two trucks loaded with 360 bags of rice have been seized from the Narela house.

    Raj Kumar used to sell the rice to Naveen after purchasing from the NGOs, who are authorised to implement the mid-day meal scheme, police added.

    A hunt is on to apprehend the officer-bearers of three NGOs who are said to be absconding.
