Nirani to woo NRI investments in state

BANGALORE: Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani led a high-level delegation to USA starting September 18-27 to position Karnataka as a lucrative investment destination among prospective American investors and non-resident Indians hailing from Karnataka.

The tour included interactions with entrepreneurs and business leaders and visits to Chicago, New York and San Francisco to acquaint with the dynamics of agricultural trade, from procurement

to preservation to sale. They visited the Chicago Board of Trade to study the auctioning and trading of agricultural products in the global market.

The delegation visited the Chicago International Produce Market to acquaint itself with the dynamics of agricultural trade, from procurement to preservation to sale. Later, it visited the Chicago Board of Trade to study the auctioning and trading of agricultural products in the global market, which included witnessing live trading process.  

The delegation visited the global research and development facility of Arcelor Mittal after which Nirani invited the company to open a similar facility in Karnataka.

Nirani also met Ron Somers, President of the United States India Business Council and highlighted the business opportunities in Karnataka and extended an invitation to the council to attend the Global Investors Meet, 2012.
