New Delhi: With speculations making the rounds over the new potential candidate for the post of Bharatiya Janata Party president, sources on Friday said that there are high chances that Nitin Gadkari gets a second term. According to BJP sources, Gadkari remains the first choice of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for the top post.
"Senior BJP ministers will decide who will be the next president of the party. However, there should be no surprises if Nitin Gadkari becomes the party president for the second time," said BJP leader Kalraj Mishra.
Senior BJP leader LK Advani, however, is reportedly opposed to the idea as Gadkari recently came under the scanner due to the alleged dubious business deals of his Purti Group of Companies.
However, experts think that Gadkari has high chances of getting a second term as garnering support for any other leader from within the BJP would be difficult.
