New Delhi: An Australian teenager has been sentenced to 13 years in jail for the murder of Indian student Nitin Garg. The judge, however, said the attack was not racially motivated.
21-year old Nitin was stabbed to death in Melbourne in January 2010 while he was walking to his workplace.
The attack took place at a time of heightened attacks on Indian students and cab drivers in that country.
The convict's name has been withheld as he is a minor. Now 17-years old, he will have to serve at least eight years behind bars before being eligible for parole.
